How to change your Minecraft nickname
How to change the nickname of an offline and a licensed account, and what happens to your skin and items on servers.
How you change a nickname depends on the account.
Offline nickname
In TCLauncher an offline account is just a name. Add a new account with another nickname or rename the existing one in the Accounts tab. No licence needed.
Microsoft account
A licensed account's name is changed on the Minecraft website in your profile, once every 30 days. The launcher picks up the new name after you sign in again.
What happens on servers
- On licensed servers progress is tied to the account — changing the name loses nothing.
- On servers without a licence progress is tied to the nickname — with a new one you start over.
Skin
An offline account's skin in TCLauncher is tied to the nickname and visible to friends with the MCL Skin mod. After renaming, set the skin again in the Skins tab.

Can I have several nicknames?
Yes, you can add several offline accounts in the launcher and switch between them.
Will my items disappear after renaming?
Not on licensed servers. On servers without a licence items stay with the old nickname.
