What to do if Minecraft crashes
Why Minecraft crashes on launch or in game, how to read a crash report and how to find the mod to blame.
The game crashed and the window closed instead of loading the world. The cause is almost always one of five: a mod for the wrong version, a mod conflict, too little memory, the wrong Java or damaged files.
1. Look at the report
When the game crashes, the launcher shows a report: what happened and which mod is mentioned in the error. You can ask the AI assistant to explain the report in plain words.
2. Check recent changes
Did crashes start after a new mod or update? Disable it in the Mods tab and launch again.
3. Common causes
- A mod for another game version or loader — the Mods tab marks it as incompatible.
- A missing dependency — install the mod from the catalog and the launcher adds the libraries.
- OutOfMemoryError — add memory in the build settings.
- Two mods doing the same thing (e.g. OptiFine and Sodium) — keep one.
4. If nothing helps
Duplicate the build and disable mods in halves to find the culprit. Or send us the report through the feedback form.

FAQ
The game crashes right at launch — what now?
Most often it's an incompatible mod or the wrong loader version. Open the report — it shows which mod is mentioned.
Where are crash reports stored?
In the build folder, in crash-reports. The launcher shows the latest report itself.
